When I went to Peru to Machu Picchu...you can see the river all the way at the bottom.

It's beautiful up there.
But a bytch to get to.

7 or 8 hours to Lima
1 hour to Cusco.
4 hour train ride to Machu Picchu.
30 minute bus ride up the mountain.
Then you gotta walk into the city.

I'd recommend it. But the trip can be exhausting.

I only did it because I was in Peru for my brother's wedding in 2007. They had a 2nd reception for his (now ex) wife's family who couldn't make it to the wedding in NY
