Now I was taken to Peter Luger Steakhouse in Brooklyn by a guy I was dating and the meal was $200+ because he wanted to treat me for my birthday. I'll always remember that and it's still the best steak I've eaten. I also did something super special for him, but some people just want to take and take and take....

After glancing at Ruth's menu the prices don't look bad to me at all and I'm cheap. I see it this way, if you want quality, you spend the money, but for a first date, it depends on the people.

Peter Luger, Morton's, Ruth Chris, etc....

First date? Naaaaah. Never.

And by no means am I cheap.

Ruth is not 200.00 unless you just straight doing too much

an app, 2 entrees, 2 sides, desert, alcoholic drinks? Definitely getting near 200.

That's not doing too much. That's a normal nice date out. Meaning... what we're ordering at any restaurant.

So if I take someone to Ruth Chris, that's GF/wifey territory.

Hmm... from the other perspective, usually by the time we're going on the date he and I have talked on the phone a few times at least. He has a sense of who I am, my personality, my character, etc. and he treats me accordingly.

You're not obligated to spend a lot of money on a date for sure, I just can't see myself dating a guy who would view that sort of money as a problem. I do pretty well for myself and I'm not interested in playing breadwinner. I also need to be with someone who is compatible with me... if I'm into a certain kind of lifestyle and have worked hard so that I'm able to provide that for mysemyself want to be with someone who feels the same.

Well if it's established that both parties like each other after having several conversations, I think most guys would be willing to do a little more.

But I know I've asked plenty of women out after one conversation, mainly because I didn't feel like waiting for these multiple conversations to occur before hanging out with her. Recently I have been waiting, tho. I got tired of women that had no tangible interest in me accepting dates, so I do a more thorough job of vetting them up front.

It's over $100.
Nobody goes to Ruth Chris to skimp and get the minimum.

You can go to Applebees and spend $70 just off the strength of 2 entrees, an appetizer and a couple of drinks.
Especially if a date goes well (or if you're with your woman). The more fun, the longer you're out together...the higher the bill.

Still agree with everyone else that Ruth Chris is out of the question for a 1st date.

Are you serious?:ohhh: I thought Applebees was the cheapest of the cheap. I can't go there. Their food is nasty.

In these days, I like to ask where they would like to go to eat. That tells me from the gate if she is a selfish broad or not. I typically don't do dinner though on a first date. Maybe a happy hour after work. Meeting at Starbucks, maybe a picnic in the park, or a low cost event. If a chick doesn't want to do something like that on a first date then. :camby:

I don't have anything against Applebee's.
I don't go there often but for a chain restaurant it's not bad.

But if you get an app, you figure that's $10-12.
An entree...maybe $15 each (unless there's a special).

Right away you're up to $40 bucks.
Two or 3 drinks...tip...easily $70+
