That's pretty close to the truth. Everyone wants to act like Darnold wasn't trash for the vast majority of his career because he found success in the right spot. He's not an elite QB.

He's not a guy you build around he's a guy who can succeed if you have all the pieces in place. All he had to do was manage the game and not turn it over. He wasn't playing well but they were still getting points in the board. Put him in a situation where he had to be the catalyst and he's not winning you a ring.

He had to be the catalyst two weeks ago against the second best team in the league :mjlol:

He wasn’t trash. The Jets organization is trash. Yall gotta stop giving these teams a pass. Some of them are so damn inept nobody can succeed there. The Jets are one of those teams.

Too many teams are trying to build by paying all the money to the QB and then putting scraps out there around him. Unless you have a top 5 QB that ain’t gonna work. And even when it does someone like Mahomes has to pull magic out his ass to succeed.

Nothing wrong with being the reliable QB who doesn’t lose the game. You can win with that too. That doesn’t make you trash.

Darnolds solid- I agree on Purdy hurts Dak Love Goff and maybe Bake- but Williams and Daniels have proven nothing in This league, and Matt has like 2 years left. Darnold is definitely a top 15 qb- which is great, upper half of the NFL, played great all year and in the post season.

Same defense that gave up 31 to Carolina two weeks before that. Rams defense wasn't great.

The point is Darnold is not a guy who can replicate that effort consistently. You don't want him throwing 36 times. He threw the 3rd most INT's in the league.

He sucked with the Jets. Blame the organization if you want but I guess you also have to blame the Panthers because he sucked there too.

He didn't look like a capable starter until Minny and he had some of the best weapons weapons in the league. That was 7 years into his career.

Again, he needs pieces around him. He's not capable of carrying an offense.

This is revisions history where now that he's found success all the other teams didn't know what they had. He just wasn't good and need time to figure things out and sign with the right teams.

Those same Panthers had Baker Mayfield and made him look terrible as well.

Yall need to stop getting hung up on this “the qb needs to carry the team or he is ass” mentality.

Look what happened to the Chiefs once everyone in offense either left or got hurt. Mahomes was out there looking like Harry Houdini in the pocket and still losing. Do you think Mahomes could win with those Jets teams? :usure:

When did I say he was ass? I'm only saying he's not elite. Every QB who wins it all isn't a great player. Darnold is one of those guys.

Just because Minny made the wrong choice now everyone wants to act like they weren't calling him a bust for 6 seasons.

He was trash he has change the narrative & is longer trash but people wont let that narrative go that is the thing. They continue to downplay pretty much anything he does. All playoff run people were expecting him to screw up and cost them a game because of his past history so the whole everyone acting like he wasn't trash doesn't fly. That the things with sports in general period getting to the right spot or system or having the right person believe in you matter. He is a top 12 to 15 QB at the moment who can move depending on how things go. Him not being elite fine all i no is all these other elite QB were sitting they ass at home or at a party watching him

TYRONE GA!
Darnold almost threw multiple picks in that first half yesterday. When's he hot or not asked to do too much, he's fine.

But that was just some shyt to fill time.

Damn this is actually a interesting debate I can see both sides of the argument on one hand Sam did play with one of the best minds in football (KOC), JJ and a damn good oline and defense in Minnesota..and in season he had a great defense and decent oline in Seattle and Ryan Clark had up a good point let's be real. Let's say an expansion draft was today and you can only pick NFC quarterbacks honest Sam wouldn't be your top 5 choice :yeshrug: but I also don't wanna take away from how he played with Minnesota and Seattle
