why they overrating it so much then? the setting and themes?
I was actually having this conversation with someone the other day. By no means I'm saying Ryan Coogler is a kiss azz. But I strongly feel Rayn made damn sure to make some good connections with some top dogs in Hollywood, because if you notice any film that he's ever came out with has gotten good publicity and great promotion.
He must be a good schmoozer.
Edit: I will say the idea and concept of Sinners is a fresh new idea (that's probably the main reason its getting very good reviews and its kind of the reason it got 100% on rotten tomatoes) but as I said before IMO the middle act of the movie didn't hold strong.
To me, Sinners is a very delicious burrito but once you get to the middle of said burrito it becomes very soggy, you still finished the burrito because it's very delicious but you could have done without all the sogginess.
