Bruh was pretty spot on with his overall review.… just a nice little mid movie.…the Vamps lore and purpose is lacking due to poor exposition... The big action scene was short...the pacing was off…the general story is pretty bland...etc etc

Ironically to me the best and most interesting parts of this movie was prior to the Vamps showing up.… that's really the weaker half of the movie

I agree fully with his review. Shoulda spent more time fleshing out where the vamps came from, more time/action on the struggle to fight them, etc. Just seemed like the vamp part was almost an afterthought. Definitely wanted more story on the Native American hunters, fo sho

@Nigerianwonder said something pages ago and I gotta say something similar, Coogler makes movies black people will love but mediocre enough that people who understand writing will dismiss.

On a longer note,

saying white people are bad but not cleverly writing or showing in visual form how they’re bad doesn’t mean its symbolic, it just means you’re not a good writer.

Get Out already did symbolism perfectly and subtly with this

And Hidden Figures said white people bad overtly perfectly in this.




This movie added nothing to that conversation and the vampires were run of the mill, ulterior motive seeking, promises of a new life, etc etc. If people want to turn that into nah nah Ryan is saying white people are like that too tho, you’re free to think that but the writing didn’t present the characters as that.

Chinese people owning a store that black folk do business in wasn’t symbolic it was just a store Chinese people owned and black people did business in. It wasn’t written with a symbolic gesture or even shown in one.

The twin shooting another black man in the ass could be seen as a symbolic statement that we don’t trust each other and the white man got us pitted against each other. Nah that was just a gangsta showcasing to not fukk with him. Again writing and direction matter.

Saw it again this afternoon, this time in IMAX. Not an empty seat in the room.

This film was an experience. That scene with

the Riverdancing vampires, especially with the Black vampires getting all into it, requires further analysis.

It's a song about an Irishman moving to England and after getting discriminated and picked on he longs for the day he can move back home to Dublin.

Saw it last night with the scam known as Screen X where the film is supposed to pull you in by having the screen extended alongside both walls.

Liked the movie a lot and the dancing scenes really moved me. After the movie the audience clapped.

One thing that bothered me is NO WAY IN HELL CAN YOU MAKE A PROMISE WITH A VAMPIRE

Vampire twin should’ve helped take out the KKK before the sunrise

Delroy Lindo really did heavy lifting

Honestly one more thing as I read stuff a lot of what Blade was going to do ended up in this from actors like Lindo, people behind the scenes, and more like costume designs apparently Blade was going to have some similar time period parts.

Wouldn’t mind seeing this again at the movies
