Not true. Solomon Childs said in an interview no one like the beat, not even Rza. It was a mistake. He told Rza let him have a stab at it and made his verse in 10 minutes. Once he rapped it, Ghost said let him go in and then Rza. No one liked the beat.

They ultimately felt it enough to have it on both versions of the album.

Sean Price on Stroke of Death:

Even the weird shyt that RZA did where he just scratched the record on “Stroke of Death,” that shyt was dumb. That’s one of them beats that’s like, “Cut that shyt off!” or “I get it.” I was the one who got it. I was like, “Oh that shyt is crazy.” A lot of people didn’t get it. I had one of my friends be like, “Yo, what the fukk is that?” But you know me, after playing three to four times in the ride, they be like, “Oh I get it. This shyt dumb.”

Knobbz: What I love about this beat is how so many people would think it’s broken. The constant scratching makes it sound like the track has gone haywire, but it’s just The RZA being the maverick producer that he
is. On paper, this beat sounds like it would be really irritating, but it’s just not. Very few producers could make a beat like this and have it sound so good.

Zilla Rocca: The weirdest song from the weirdest major label rap album released this decade, “Stroke Of Death” works perfectly in conjunction with the rest of Ghostface’s dada-inspired Supreme Clientele — it’s the sonic equivalent of Ghost’s “disease breath, elephant skin, black Boy George” rhymes. I remember the first time I played this song, I thought my CD was damaged. By shanking the sample with a vinyl cartridge, RZA made a percussive element out of a truly ear-splitting sound. This beat today would work on an album released by Def Jux, Stones Throw, Edan, or MF Doom. “Stroke Of Death” is the kind of beat most consumers skip over and most producers call each other at about 2:00 a.m. like, “YO DIDYOUHEARTHATshytRZADIDONTHENEWGHOSTFACEshyt??? Yo fam… shyt… is… CRAAAAAY-ZEEEEE!”

It's RZA , you ain't know the unspoken rule of the booth is everybody from the mid 90s era is perfect and is exempt from criticism

Let swizz beatz make some shyt like that though , nikkas would be on his heels ayap lol

Nah you got a solid point bro. If swizz made that beat it'd be all jokes. So much of an artists music is contextual. I might be talking weird but follow me here; because RZA is one of the GOAT producers we are more likely to "try and get" where he's coming from. The stroke of death beat to me is so-so. It's not the worst shyt I've ever heard but it's not the best RZA beat by far. But we appreciate it because we know RZA is capable of doing a lot and he did something simple that worked. I find this shyt with other artists too. If an artist typically does drawn out shyt when they do simple stuff it has more meaning and impact. If Swizz did this we'd just assume he was making lazy trash like he almost always does. But he wouldn't make this. It's too bugged out. His shyt is just garbage. It's like that numbers on the board beat. we understand RZA is skilled and coming from a place of skill and being creative and maybe even a little lazy with it. Regardless, if it sounds good it is good.

The beat on its own I could see why someone would say it's bad or unfinished. What they did on it is where the enjoyment comes from

Before anyone jumps on that shyt it's :dahell:

As it gets going and when RZA jumps on that ho its

After you heard it once, knowing what's coming, the beat is enough to get your head nodding
