Sharon Bryant's voice . I even like "Love me down", a song no straight man should sing a long or be caught listening to.

Man all those 808 jams from the 80's still bump and sound way clean in the car. Kashif, Loose Ends, BB&Q Band etc..

did y'all know the time was a new wave synth pop group? like devo or the human league? they had some r&b sounding records that made black radio but they were a new wave group. their whole "cool" persona was a costume gimmick like kiss. listen to that first album you'll hear it

Not sure about Devo but The Human League did some work with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. That song I'm Only Human that was in that insurance commercial? That's one of their productions.

They had a show in the Bay recently at StoneSoul which is like a summer jam for old school R&B acts. Pissed that I missed it.
