This is my first recession as an adult

I have a so-called 'stable' job but my company's stock price has dropped 30% in the past month

What shuld I do

This is cynical but honest. Figure out a way to produce something of value for your firm and don't let anyone else know how to do it. If its producing a report/product whatever. That makes you less expendable when job cuts come along.

Sounds messed up, but it will help you keep your job. People do it all the time :yeshrug:

Death toll is nearly 4000 already and you're gonna see that grow a lot considering that most localities are only now reporting their first cases. Do you think it's already peaked or just getting started?
It’s already peaked in China where schools and factories are reopening. Even Disneyworld in China is reopening again. It’s also peaked in South Korea and cases are now reducing and those are the two biggest countries. Regarding the rest of the world, outside Italy, we are seeing increases of hundreds a day out of Billions of people so not really something you’ll call a pandemic.

Dude. That’s the problem. Panic. How do recessions start? Panic. The US government handled this horrifically. No one is confident in them getting this shyt resolved. So as confidence falls off, the market follows.

The market always been temperamental and fragile. A lot of fear mingering and that shyt works especially when the people that are supposed to protect t you are completely incompetent (ie: Trump)

That said....all these companies relying on so much of their business from China better get their act together. That is the one area I agree with trump.

it would’ve been no panicking ‘if the orange pres nip it in the bud - when the virus popped off’ or better yet if the idiot pres didn't cut funding for the CDC

I don’t know why you’re so desperate for this virus to be bigger than it is. It has affected just over 100,000 people worldwide, over half have recovered and the death is just over 3000. Worldwide. With a majority being old people or those with underlying diseases.

If we want to talk about it’s impact on the economy then that’s another matter but the actual virus itself on human life isn’t the big deal that you’re trying to make it.

:snoop: the death rate is 3.5% :snoop:

a planet of over 7 billion people would eliminate 250 million

It peaked in China after they damn near shut down huge segments of the country and pulled off a massive government health care response. Even if the rest of the infected countries "only" have China's economic response, that's going to be a huge hit on the world economy. And not every country is going to be able to manage the travel shut-downs and health care interventions that China did.

And word from inside China is that a lot of the news you're seeing about shyt reopening is bullshyt:

China's coronavirus recovery is 'all fake,' whistleblowers and residents claim

To be clear, that's the death rate out of presented cases, that's not the death rate from infections. The death rate from actual infections could easily be 10x lower than that and not everyone is going to get infected.

Even in a worse case scenario, I don't think we're going to see more than a million deaths. Most likely scenario I think is somewhere between 20,000-100,000, but could still be better or worse than that.

for sure and the last shyt he tweeted did not help matters. At a time where people need a leader to tell them they’ll be fine, this clown is going after the media. Doesn’t even realize the lack of information is making people panic. Making the markets panic. Someone has to take over the wheel.
