Ya Bloodin and Crippin like that in Sac Town? What made Sac go in that lane when places like SF and Oakland wasn't banging Crip and Blood like that?
Basically what Jonah said, but just a little more detail...
First of all, historically despite being only an hour out from The Bay, Sacramento had just as much ties to Los Angeles historically, as it did to The Bay. I'm from Sacramento and have family from both The Bay and LA, and this was never uncommon. People always had LA family, it really wasn't until the turn of the century that Bay ties strengthened, with many black families being priced outta The Bay...
So we're talking relatively recently, like ~25 years or so ago. If you were alive ot cognizant of Sacramento culture pre-2000, it was common to meet people with ties to Los Angeles; I went to elementary school in Los Angeles myself....if you're younger or grew up in the schools after 2000, then you came up in a Sacramento with much more ties to The Bay than LA.
Even with that said, its plenty of transplanted Angelenos or people woth LA ties in Sacramento.
Bloods and Crips have been established in the city since the early 80s. The LA nikkas who came to Sacramento already had family here, it wasn't no drug trafficking shyt that rooted em here, B/C culture in Sac predates the crack era.
And Sac always had our own gangs, so when Crips and Bloods came thru, we just threw the C and B on the end of hoods we already had established, and that endures to this day. Granted, gangbanging today is somewhat different, alot of hybrid shyt, but there's plenty of Bloods and Crips in Sacramento, and they bang Sacramento Blood and Crip hoods.
Ain't nobody in Sacramento claiming no LA shyt unless they from LA, we godfathered the Northern California B and C movements!
