No, you’re wrong. Either you’re or confusing me for one of the callous idiots who argued against the unemployment bonus. Never once did I ever dismiss the concerns of the “essential” workers who didn’t qualify for pandemic unemployment assistance.

What I think you might be recalling are the exchanges I had with those who said that the unemployed shouldn’t receive anything if essential workers were excluded from the pandemic aid. My position then, which I still stand by, was that those who lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic shouldn’t be penalized because of the admittedly unfair allotment of aid. Their criticisms, which were certainly valid, should have been directed at Congress.

I said that the unemployed would become victims of the Democrats’ pursuit of a perfect stimulus. Where’s the lie? How is that reflective of my indifference to the very real burden essential workers shouldered through this pandemic?

Had Democrats not ceded ground in that fight, no one would have received aid. Yes, concessions were made, a compromise that unfortunately saw essential workers excluded from the more generous component of the aid.

Also, they did have jobs, while people whose jobs were shuttered by the pandemic had no income. There is truth to that.

I swear, if the Democrats don’t take this deal offered by the White House, they are fukking useless. People are beginning to fukking starve! fukk funding for schools. fukk hazard pay. Focus on what’s urgent, which is the millions of unemployed who are now suffering in the wake of that bonus ending. Their messaging is horrendous.
