whole thing is a joy to watch, though. If you're into that sort of thing. I love watching "making of" documentaries on classic albums. It's like watching a mythology being built from the ground up.
SO much better than watching modern versions of this, where you see somebody talk about how much weed they smoked, how long they knew a popular producer, how "great" they are. said producer playing a bunch of unreleased beats while 50 weed carriers stand around, said person rehearsing a line over and over and then "The Dualities".

They didn't steal the sample per say, they just didn't clear it because they didn't think Deja Vu would blow up.. Once Deja Vu caught fire, it was like oh sh*t, we have to pay Steely Dan now.
