Studio got folded into Gearbox.
They did it to themselves
They didn't get "folded into Gearbox." They are under Gearbox management now instead of Deep Silver management.

When you sit down and think about the situation, Deep Silver never cared about any game they publish to be in high quality, just purely sales. Volition never stood a chance, but they did themselves in too, which makes it worse. If them being under Gearbox turns them around then its good they gone through an management change, if not, then it's best to close the studio.

The problems I would have with that would be them trying to censor the experience or bring the sensibilities to modern standards. That would just hurt me.
But along with that, this game was glitchy as fukk and near broken for a lot of people. I'd hate to get excited and they would deteriorate the experience.
