People expected the story/etc to be bad but not a buggy mess. I think that is a bigger issue. Not only did they come up with a dumb story direction but they failed on other aspects

I understand artistic integrity and wanting to enact one's own vision, but at a certain point you have to sorta listen to the demands of your base. All the IP owners had to dude was release a game in the mold of SR2 and it would sell like hotcakes (more than likely reviewed good as well). That's it. Fans have been asking for that for a decade. Instead they doubled down once again on the later half of games in the franchise which became too much a joke of itself which sold well but almost killed the franchise.​

Hell even FIXING Saints Row 2 on PC would be a decent consolation prize. It was someone’s dying wish too.

I actually enjoyed SR3, but mainly because of that auto tune guy, everytime he came on shyt was comedy
