:salute: to that boy J. Cole

Dropped a dope album and people went out and bought it...

:dwillhuh: How does Ace Hood keep getting to release albums?

Any other art*tst who would have had the type of sales he had after his first 3 albums would have been dropped.

That DJ Khaled is a loyal muthafukka :wow:

If you believe his interviews, Ace never got paid an advance, so all that the label is spending $ on is the marketing and the cost of making the album (Khaled owns the studio where it was recorded at & I bet most of the producers got paid shyt). Plus, Ace sells singles.

I'm no dikk rider but hov didnt put out a single or video. Technically he has mill sold already even if a quarter of that million actually bought it. Jay always trying new shyt for the marketing of his albums. This isn't the first time the marketing for his album didnt come out of his pocket.

Okay, well thats makes sense then. if he had a traditional record deal he would have been in the bushes but if its the way you explain then he is probably still eating pretty good.

Oh no, I'm not suggesting he is eating good at all. I'm just saying that the label didn't have to spend much $ upfront, and he's likely in a 360 deal, so if he tours a bit, they'll make their $ back with relative ease.

Not even. The problem is when you don't have an advance and are in a 360, money is taken out of every single thing that you do from top to bottom. People get volume of touring confused with massive profits for the artist. Remember, the touring manager/company, label, tour assistant, his regular manager, lawyers, etc. all get a piece of that touring money before he even sees a true dime off of it. He's basically making what a person that works full time at a call center makes except he gets to be a lot more flashy about it.

I'm surprised at how many of my facebook friends fukk with J.Cole.

Cole has moved into Jigga's "Training Wheels Rap" lane for the older fans who consider themselves hip hop but aren't really "hip hop heads" and don't follow the latest trends in music. Folks who just need a go-to "credible mainstream rapper" that they won't feel embarrassed listening to when they hit 30. Kanye and Lupe were in that lane but decided to go too far left...Good for Cole.

Even disregarding the platinum plaque from the samsung deal, he'll do 1 million easy, by next week he'll be around 750K. I don't even think he'll need an official single to go over 1 million

Whats the song with JT if not a single?
