Two great intellectuals discussing race
Two great intellectuals discussing race
I was listening to this last night and there really wasn't a discussion per se. NDT says he veers from talking about race because he doesn't want to be labeled the "black scientists". NDT says he is going to write a book on his experience with race eventually and then he'll be able to discuss the issue.
I can't blame him considering that people use race to marginalize one's intellectual prowess. Here is a better intellectual discussing race
Sowell is an intellectual titan although me and him are on opposite sides of spectrum. (I dont think he out rationalizes Tyson or Harris though). However he puts too much faith in market forces conquering human lack of reason. Here is a better intellectual discussing race

with this Super c00n.Of course theyre incomparable..different specialties.

His analysis is backed by evidence...I can understand why most people and in particular most Black people would have a visceral reaction to it because most of it is counter intuitive ...but if you put aside the bias and research you will find its accurate
In that video, he literally uses this line of reasoning:
1. Slavery in the US is mixed in with race more than anywhere else (I'm guessing he misspoke here, cause he argues literally the opposite immediately after) because…
2. The Declaration of Independence says all men are created equal.
3. If slavery exists, some men are more equal than others.
4. Brazil imported more slaves.
5. Therefore, not racial.
Dap + Rep
@ this dishonest paraphrasing...you literally take 3 words and drop the rest of the context....He Opens with slavery existed BEFORE race ..it was only recently it became racial and it became that way because if you declare "all men are created equal" then you have to justify why some of those men are in chainsIn that video, he literally uses this line of reasoning:

then you go ahead and make your own strawman....The example of Brazil is to juxtapose the difference..Brazil didnt have a constitution,it was a class and caste colonial heirachy so they had less problems ending slavery because the state did not have a rule defining who was human and who wasnt
