The police were so unhelpful in the situation and its deeply shocked me." - Once again, why did it take THIS for him to "shine some sort of light on it", and secondly, who the fukk does he think he is to think him speaking on it would suddenly make it a now valid issue?

Pretty sure that's the whole problem here, dude pretty much approached the whole situation like "Okay guys, we really have to do something about this racism thing, I never believed it was real until I saw it happen to my friend, and it hurt MY feelings, so we should do something about racism so MY feelings don't get hurt!"

to be fair most whites will never experience what its like to be racially prejudiced against

for the same reason that most whites are also unaware of white privilege and how it affects them in everyday situations
