Sosa arrived in Chicago in 1993. That year they were 9th in attendance in MLB.

92 - 5th
91 - 5th
90 - 5th

I dont know/care where you got those numbers from, Wrigley stayed half full during those years

cubs actually had a decent squad in the late 80s with Grace, Dawson, Dunston, Sandberg and Greg Maddux.....ppl were going to games and they were winning....they even made the NLCS in 89 but didnt resign Maddux like idiots

Sold seats ≠ actual attendance

Its not some secret that Wrigley wasnt full during those years. It started becoming an attraction again as Sosa brought some life to the organization again

Exiled Sosa won't beg for Cubs' forgiveness

"I never wanted to leave Chicago. I should have handled that situation differently, yes indeed," Sosa told Wasserstrom. "I recognize my mistake. But look, I have my pride, and I know I had a tremendous career in Chicago. When nobody knew who Chicago was, I put Chicago on the map. Like you said, if I could have done it again, I would have done it differently."
