I visited Genius for the first time in ages recently and noticed they list song samples on lyrics pages now. I'll never forget that interview Combat Jack did with the creators of that site, around the time it first started to get press and go viral. It was so obvious they didn't know shyt about hip hop. And now all these white driven avenues are being used to clamp down lol.

Mach Hommy was right all along lol.

I remember that episode vividly. I remember Dallas Penn clowning them relentlessly lol. One of the dudes on that episode who passed away recently

GTFO mfers sampling these old soul, blues, jazz records to make beats but don't want to pay to get the sample cleared.

Whatever song you sampling the original artist deserves to be paid. If they're dead then their estate should get paid.

I've sampled. My favorite hip-hop producers all sampled. The artist you sampling should be credited too.

"Sample snitching." More like stealing.

Looping or chopping a sound bite up and adding drums doesn't mean the original song shouldn't be credited.

Edit - And it's ironic because some of these same samplers get mad when mfers steal they beats.
