The XBOX One is definitely the better console for you then. It's basically a gimped HTPC that can game as well.
Get the Kinect in your case because it will be very useful for you.

I had the XBONE day one edition and a PS4, enjoyed the XBONEs extra features , I just dont play games so it was collecting dust and I copped around release so it was 500 bucks collecting dust. I sold the XBONE for a PS4 as I have owned every Sony system since the OG and that collected dust even more since I didnt game and didnt have as cool features as the XBONE. I`m just going to wait for the XBONE To get super cheap then cop probably.
You can land an Xbox One on Craigslist for about that now.
Yep, someone on my local craigslist just got rid of a COD model for $240.
I almost copped it so I can strip it and sell its parts for more, but they aren't breaking down as often for it to be worth my time.

Yeah you can't get $300 for an Xbox One on CL. The best you can hope for after fees on eBay for just the console is around $250 which is what I sold my black one for on CL. It took several weeks to sell it for that price too.

I guess I'll cop an XB1 for that price just so I can play Gears UE and then I'll cop a PS4 later around September/OCT for Destiny The Taken King and Uncharted Collection as well as Persona 5. $400 for both consoles

That's an amateur. At best he will get $600 for those, so all that work of going to best buy to grab it, then driving 60 miles to meet up...he will probably break about even once taxes are considered...which would be considered a loss of 4-5 hours of productivity.
The only reason I even considered it is because I would have kept the deck. Sold the TV, Controller, Halo, Power Brick, and Box separate...means I would have got the xbox one deck for about $100 and use it to swap consoles with people who are having problems. Not enough of them are breaking down for me to even bother at this point though.
PS4's? Yeah, I had like 15 on me and got rid of them quick because of the APU/HDMI problems. Actually getting another one on Wednesday to fix and just wait for the easy swap money to come in.
You honestly can't think you can flip this worth the time. The XBONE may go relatively easy but you might have to go 300 or below as this is gonna flood the market soon. And tvs...people don't buy tvs like that...
That Xbox might fetch $280 new in the box if that. The TV He'd be lucky to get $300 for it. It cost him $530 with sales tax. He'll make chump change on it. Wasn't worth the time it took to get it.
TVs are one of the most worthless consumer electronic goods out there when it comes to reselling them. I bought one brand new in 2013 for $1500 and sold it days ago for $600. People don't care how good a TV is or how high end it is. All they look at is the screen size and judge it's price off that. That TV i sold was 2 models away from the flagship model of it's year. It basically had all the stuff the flagship did except the camera and weird TV stand.
Yeah that's why I didn't bother, the TV is going to be a pain in the ass to get rid of on craigslist.
Then if you try on eBay you have to compete with larger companies who can ship cheaper than you and in a competitive market on top of that. I would have bought it if I needed a TV, but my next one will be a 4K all-in-one hybrid.
