No he wouldn't. Using a traditional style would probably seal his fate faster. Mugens spastic actions would probably give him more time. Especially considering all the dudes he fought

Ordinary as in human, right? Kariya was as good as the Samurai Champloo universe allows one to get. They don't have robots and meta humans, iirc.
