  • The Chargers aren't the only entity in San Diego that's been threatening to leave recently, the city's biggest event, Comic-Con, has also been threatening to leave town.

However, Comic-Con won't be leaving anytime soon thanks to a two-year extension that was struck on Thursday.

Under terms of the new agreement, Comic-Con will now be held in San Diego through at least 2018. Under the old deal, the comic convention could've left town after 2016.

Comic-Con and the Chargers are two things that the city of San Diego is best known for and because both were threatening to leave, the San Diego Union-Tribune decided to poll its readers to find out which one was more important to the city -- and let's just say that things didn't go well for the Chargers.

With 3,327 votes tallied so far, Union-Tribune readers have overwhelmingly decided that Comic-Con, which is a four-day event held once a year, is more important to San Diego than the Chargers.

Almost 60 percent of voters (1,937) said Comic-Con was more important. The Chargers have received 1,390 votes so far.

Now, the results would probably be different if this poll were taken in February 2016 and the Chargers were getting ready to play in the Super Bowl, but that's not the case and a poll like this could give Chargers ownership another reason to look toward Los Angeles.

Although Comic-Con will be in San Diego until at least 2018, the same can't be said about the Chargers. Team owner Dean Spanos recently met with LA mayor Eric Garcetti and it's still possible that the Chargers could be playing in LA as soon as the 2016 season.

Comic-Con is bigger than 75% of the league really

The money they earn from people who come for the event is crazy and they don't allow that much press from what I've heard

Chargers are a C rate franchise that would do better somewhere else

If I was Jacksonville, Detroit, Tampa Bay (maybe), any team in the AFC East not New England, Washington, Oakland, fukk Seattle, Cleveland x10000090000000000000000000000000, I'd pick Comic Con over my franchise going forward
