Daygo only cares about the Chargers and Padres if they are winning. That hasn't been happening too much lately. San Diego State men's basketball runs the city LOL...I've been home when Comic Con was there and it was live as hell! Had me like 
Wrong. Not filled with bases, but it is a military town for sure. And you're right about the fan situation. Raiders come to SD and it's no lie 75% Raider fans in the stands. Same with any other big name team that comes to Qualcomm...same thing for the Padres.

Meanwhile the Jacksonville Jaguar's, the ass of the NFL, bring in close to $140mm a year for the city of Jacksonville. I would have to imagine that the chargers bring in close to $150mm to the city. Which is why these politicians bend over backwards for these teams- despite the fact that owners are making $$$$ hand over fist and could easily pay for new stadiums themselves

They dont make money for cities. There have been studies done on this from both conservative and liberal angles. They both agree with the tax breaks and all the stuff the city has to pay for, it always ends in a negative for the municipality.
With Comic-Con, all they have built is a convention center. The rest is money from outside of the community being spent in the community.
Its the intrinsic value of sports that leads politicians to want to spend money to keep teams, not monetary.

I remember going to an interleague game against the Red Sox a few years back and it was Fenway Park West at Petco. San Diego is not a pro sports town at all.
