Comic-Con is bigger than 75% of the league really

The money they earn from people who come for the event is crazy and they don't allow that much press from what I've heard

Chargers are a C rate franchise that would do better somewhere else

If I was Jacksonville, Detroit, Tampa Bay (maybe), any team in the AFC East not New England, Washington, Oakland, fukk Seattle, Cleveland x10000090000000000000000000000000, I'd pick Comic Con over my franchise going forward

75 percent :mjlol:

I remember hearing a story that last year when the Broncos went there the crowd was completely filled with Denver fans.
Can't blame them when they are always just "there." in the league
Most of San Diego is filled with military bases anyways right? Or am I wrong?

Daygo only cares about the Chargers and Padres if they are winning. That hasn't been happening too much lately. San Diego State men's basketball runs the city LOL...I've been home when Comic Con was there and it was live as hell! Had me like :dwillhuh:

Wrong. Not filled with bases, but it is a military town for sure. And you're right about the fan situation. Raiders come to SD and it's no lie 75% Raider fans in the stands. Same with any other big name team that comes to Qualcomm...same thing for the Padres.

NYC (but PGH will forever be home)
Comic-Con prolly brings in more profit to the city than the Chargers. :manny:

Unlike a sports team where locals move from one end of the community to another to watch the team, Comic-Con brings people from all over the world.

This isnt a surprise.

This is not true.

Comic-con brings in something like $99mln when you consider hotels/spending and also any trickle down effects http://www.voiceofsandiego.org/all-...problem-with-comic-cons-money-making-numbers/
(http://www.voiceofsandiego.org/all-narratives/tourism-economy/the-problem-with-comic-cons-money-making-numbers/)

Meanwhile the Jacksonville Jaguar's, the ass of the NFL, bring in close to $140mm a year for the city of Jacksonville. I would have to imagine that the chargers bring in close to $150mm to the city. Which is why these politicians bend over backwards for these teams- despite the fact that owners are making $$$$ hand over fist and could easily pay for new stadiums themselves

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
San Diego is a military city so a big chunk of the people that live there root for other teams anyway. And Mexicans don't count :mjpls:

It's a damn shame they won't upgrade that shytty ass stadium tho. They would host a super bowl every 5 years easy. They don't deserve a football team at this point. The shytty ass Padres get a new ball park in a :wow: location and the Chargers gotta play in s shyt hole.

They dont make money for cities. There have been studies done on this from both conservative and liberal angles. They both agree with the tax breaks and all the stuff the city has to pay for, it always ends in a negative for the municipality.

With Comic-Con, all they have built is a convention center. The rest is money from outside of the community being spent in the community.

Its the intrinsic value of sports that leads politicians to want to spend money to keep teams, not monetary.

your point? San Diego is a destination city. "shut that shyt down" haha right

:mjlol:at the majority of Giant fans not being able to afford to live in SF

in regards to the chargers, their ownership is amongst the worst in the league. San Diego doesn't want them any longer. If they want to be an after thought in LA to the Rams :manny:

I believe it. Shyt, when the Dodgers are there, Petco might as well be East LA :russ: I remember going to an interleague game against the Red Sox a few years back and it was Fenway Park West at Petco. San Diego is not a pro sports town at all.
