Being in the same location trying to find shyt to do
Repetitive missions

RPGs are an exception because they use the lock door rules so when you finally get to visit a special location it feels rewarding i.e Skyrim, Fallout

Watch Dogs, GTA5 etc has the world opened up from the jump and it gets tiresome fast
I know im not the only one feeling this way

most of those games aren't true 'sandboxes' IMO

a 'sandbox game' should give the players tools to create their own experience. like Arma

All this trendhoppnig shyt is overrated.

and I haven't played a new game in years.

why?

Cause All this trendhopping shyt is overrated.*

Companies don't make fun games that make you want to buy them.

Companies make games like the games that were bought.

*its also because I'm broke.

All games are reptitive
Yes, but the point of the game is to how it hides how repetitive it is.

This could be with side missions that actually have value in the story as a whole.

A great story that takes away from the gameplay.

Or maybe just fun multiplayer.

It's not that games don't this, it's the way games go about doing this is what in question.

Assassin's creeds for example. What value is added to the overall story or game by giving me a mission to race through checkpoints. That feels like a tacked on mission.

Putting hundreds of items on the map for the player to collect just to get a useless piece of armor that you don't even need. I've yet to have to upgrade my weapons in assassin's creed game due to difficulty.

Watch dogs side missions are fun, but don't add to the story. The fixer driver missions are soley there to compete with times with other players in the world. The rest of the side of missions don't add to the story, they just end with a pat on the back and useless money. Not a cutscene, a change on how the world interacts with you. They just threw a bunch of missions in the game to make you feel like there is a lot of to do.

It's because we've been spoiled. What was innovative 13 years ago when GTA3 came out, is now routine.

I think with sandboxes we're learning a few things...
1. There's a limit to the amount of realism people want in a game. The driving in GTA4 turned most people off.
2. Making bigger cities with more to do doesn't necessarily make the game better.
3. Having a ton of options and complete freedom sounds good but like everything else, gets boring over time.

The fixer missions are trash. The gang and intercept missions are good. The coin collecting is garbage. The video game mission is barely acceptable.

I think they do it to get u used to the driving and free running mechanics but to me those are tutorial missions. More emphasis on actual side missions that are unique. It's unbelievable that they spent so much time making random dialogue for the npc and not enough making new unique side missions.
