It's incredibly easy to fool a population. In fact the more people you're dealing with the easier it is to brainwash and fool them. And that is especially true for the American population. Our view of reality is 100% defined by what we see in the news. That's not to say there aren't a lot of people out there who doubt what the mass media shoves down our throats. There is. But once enough people believe in something mob mentality takes over. There is a short circuit in the human brain that rewrites our thoughts and feelings to go with what the majority believes. There was a study where they put one regular guy in with a group of trained actors and and had them all guess one by one which bar was the longest.
The regular guy was always last or second to last. And by the time it got to him he would always guess what everybody else had guessed, regardless of the objective truth. The interesting thing wasn't that he went along with everybody. It was that he actually believed the short bar was the longest. Brain scans showed that it was the visual part of his brain being affected by the consensus, not the part concerned with truth or deception. His brain was rewriting what he saw to go along with everybody else. He wasn't lying....he actually saw the short bar as the longest.
Now take this and apply it at a national level. And remember that the more people involved in the mass delusion the stronger it gets. If hundreds of millions of people, backed by the government, the media, and various forms of authority figures, believe in one thing..it would take quite the rare gentleman to believe the opposite. North Koreans believed kim jung un was a perfect being. They believed he heals the sick, can make blind people see, and does not urinate or defecate. Now if millions of Koreans can be brainwashed into worshiping some chubby short dude as god...well it makes you think, doesn't it
