On Monday’s Fox and Friends, Condoleezza Rice criticized efforts to tear down statues and monuments to U.S. historical figures who owned slaves.

“When you start wiping out your history — sanitizing your history — to make you feel better, it’s a bad thing,” Rice said.

Host Brian Kilmeade noted that Rice started out her new book, “Democracy,” by writing about the U.S. Constitution. He wondered, “As an African-American woman, do you see yourself in this constitution? Do you think that, when we look at nine of our first twelve presidents as slave owners, should we start taking their statues down and say, we’re embarrassed by you?”

Rice replied, “I’m a firm believer in keep your history before you. And so, I don’t actually want to rename things that were named for slave owners.”

The former secretary of state continued, “I want us to have to look at the names and recognize what they did; and be able to tell our kids what they did and for them to have a sense of their own history.”

The guest acknowledged that the Constitution “originally counted my ancestors as three-fifths of a man.” But she quickly pointed out that “the story of America….ultimately has been Americans claiming those institutions for themselves and expanding the definition of ‘we the people’.”

Kilmeade followed up by asking, “Should we think less of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson because they were slave owners?”

Rice underlined that “they were people of their times,” and that she wished “they had been like John Adams” and Alexander Hamilton. But she added that “what we should celebrate is that from the Jeffersons and the Washingtons as slave owners, look at where we are now.”

I always laugh at this whole "they were people of their times" argument when talking about people like Washington, Jefferson and Jackson, they just didn't know that owning another human being was evil, they act as if there were no abolitionists at their time too.

I mean I respect the idea somewhat because I am against shyt like them whitewashing books like Huckleberry Finn because I know years from now these people will legit try to act as if that era did not exist or that people didn't behave that way towards Black people.

I'm for it if we replace the statues with huge stone tablets and shyt to commemorate the country's triumph and progression PAST that fukk shyt or at least the acknowledgement of it.

But nah don't whitewash history...because in a sense that's what they want

Remember: there are Irish folks who legit believe that indentured servitude was equal or comparable to slavery...

Her and Sherriff Clarke would be perfect for each other if not for the fact that they both hate black people.
I wouldn't call Condi a c00n. At least not on the level of Clark. But she is a damn war criminal with the rest of the Bush Clan. She is just plain wrong here. She acknowledges her blackness though from what I've seen since she grew up in the segregated south.

I understand the sanitizing history argument and that America should be reminded of its slave owning past as a time of shame. But this isn't what is happening. She doesn't realize that this country is filled with white supremacist who are not ashamed of this history. They infact embrace it. There is a reason Germany removed all Nazi imagery from their society because they knew it would become a source of worship for nazis in the future. Right now, these confederate fakkits are looked at as martyrs.
So her argument is naive and just plain wrong.

Remember this iconic film.

This is what should happen to every confederate monument in the south and a bunch of missing tooth pricks should come to see it and have the debris beat them across the face.

Confederate monuments shouldn't be removed, they should be altered so as not to venerate slaveowners. Replace that statue of Jackson with a plaque about his slave owning and genocide
:ehh: I could dig that. shyt on them for posterity.
