Having a monument doesn't mean "we" celebrate anything.
I'm beyond even trying to rationalize the ridiculous idea that the US is for black americans or that black americans are a part of it.
If it makes you feel good to hang around white people and complain about them not respecting or loving you or whatever fine.
shyt means nothing for me, tear their monuments down via crying all they do is hide their respect and admiration.

Let them celebrate their heroes out in the open, I don't give a damn, I know this country doesn't operate in my best interest and that majority of whties in this country like it that way. If these monuments get kids and other blacks to learn that shyt quicker, I'd count that as a overall positive

Black people in areas where these statues are, probably have a portion, no matter how small, of their tax dollars, going to maintain tributes to these pieces of garbage. :camby:

The many public sites identified in the SPLC report point to one of the most compelling critiques of Confederate monuments. Maintaining them requires taxpayer dollars. Even when there’s strong support at a local level for an individual monument, many of them exist in part by taxing populations that may not otherwise support them, but have no choice—like any black Southerner whose property taxes support a school named for Nathan Bedford Forrest.

Why Are There Still So Many Confederate Monuments?

If they're so concerned about sanitizing history they should raise monuments honoring the victims of atrocities...not the perpetrators.

Start by replacing George Washington with Ona Judge:leostare:
Look, I see your point, but there has to be some compromise. All nations are built on the myth of their founders.
Commemorating slave-holding rebels who rebelled specifically to maintain their right to owning slaves is egregious, but so to is this.

Get your daps, though...I'll take the negs.

Why do we need monuments to traitors? I can think of a single country where they memorialize and idolize people who started and supported an insurrection.
