The SAT is trying hard to appear less elitist. A couple of years ago they offered a special test date for kids who took their $4000 program. People had a fit and the special test date was cancelled. Now the SAT people always talks about the dollar amount worth of fees they waive so low-income students can take the test.

hmm yeah my HS had SAT prep course, it's useful to teach to this test... be interesting to know how many HS still use this class vs just having to rely on private companies which would obv exclude many students. does seem like they're making it easier though
