In case anyone missed it:

Matt Schaub is not expected to play for the Texans this season. But that doesn’t mean the Texans are going to cut him.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reportsthat the Texans are keeping Schaub for a while, and Schaub won’t be going anywhere any time soon.

If Schaub is still on the team when the season starts, he’ll cost more than $14 million against the Texans’ salary cap. So it’s extremely unlikely that he’ll still be on the Texans in September. But the Texans may think they can get something for Schaub in a trade. And they may be right.

The Browns are reportedly interested in bringing in Schaub, who previously played for Cleveland offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan. The Texans would be smart to see if they can convince the Browns to give up a draft pick for Schaub.

The Texans’ starting quarterback will probably be Teddy Bridgewater, Johnny Manziel or Blake Bortles, one of whom they’ll select with the first overall pick in the draft. But until things get settled this offseason, they’re keeping all their options open by keeping Schaub.

Signed nose tackle Jerrelle Powe and safety Kendrick Lewis for low salary deals this week. I actually like both assuming they're depth guys. Powe was extremely productive in extremely limited snaps last year. Also, signed Fitzpatrick as a backup/stopgap quarterback.

For those keeping up:

We just signed safety Chris Clemons for 2 years. I like the deal and we needed safety help. Our safety group is looking pretty good.

Manning, Lewis, Swearinger, Clemons

Need some more activity in this thread.

We just signed RB Andre Brown (1-year, $650,000) to be Arian's backup. Pretty solid signing and for a good price.

Its very compelling to see Texans fans convince themselves that they're okay with taking Bortles #1

That's toughest defense he faced in his college career and looked about as pedestrian as any potential #1 pick QB has ever looked. There were no eye popping plays. He overthrew several passes. Attempted very few pass over 15 yards in the air period. Accuracy was sketchy. Footwork was not impressive.

I mean seriously, this Bortles hype better be a front of epic proportions.

Here's our schedule:

We get Schaub in week 2. Not a bad schedule. Noticed that we don't get 3 straight home or road games.
