It's what made the attitude era special. Damn near everyone felt like they mattered. Too Cool would be 3MB now but some of the pops they got were nuts. Because they were thrown a bone here and there.

They cared because they were waiting for stone cold and Rock segments...if the main event had people who were movements like that people would care about the current mid card too but yes they could add more flow to the show

You don't just stumble upon once in a generation talent like that tho. Twice at the same time as a matter of fact.
Val Venis would get crickets now but re watch some of those old RAW's and listen to his pops it's crazy. It wasn't simply because the main event was so top heavy. They gave everyone in the mid card something to do and a few seconds of mic time which was huge.
