I got a big raise/promotion this year and when that new check came in, in a sense I acted like I didn't have it because I just upped my savings and my payment on my student loans

It's a good feeling to see that money stack up like that

Nah, I did that for the first 3 years after graduating from school back in 09, when the economy was in the tank. Had 3 jobs making 65k per year, and lived with my parents and almost never going out. I stacked like mad and had almost 300k before moving out of my crib in 2014.

You know what’s even more impressive? Saving up 165k with a wife who’s s stay at home mom and 3 kids all in private school along with having a mortgage

Spending money makes me feel like shyt.

I understand those who can't afford to save much, but I laugh at people living pay check to pay check to impress other people.

Seeing those digits increase has to have some type of mind effect on the human brain. Seeing those digits go up is more satisfying than than buying expensive clothes, jewelry, and shoes combined. You not gonna wanna buy meaningless shyt Anything you spend you'll want to replace double the amount. When I have to go in my savings for an emergency

Also one thing I never do is buy breakfast. Don’t know how people do that.

Why find humor in people living check to check when the circumstances in they’re ensnared - multiple forms of debt, children, etc. - make it impossible for them to save?

I’ve gotten to the point where I hate paying full price for anything. And if you shop online, and don’t go through one of the shopping rebate portals, you are throwing FREE money away.

And some of the credit cards have shopping portals too, but if you don’t keep low balances on your credit cards, you spend more in interest.
