Even DAZN is legit out here treating their service like it means alot over the WWE. They know that PPV is forever despite cord cutting. What WWE did was basically made wrestling as a whole a devalued service. Hell, people may shyt on Impact for the right ideas, but even they know their worth with putting their major events on a PPV paywall while having everything else on their service. NJPW have all of their events on the service, but manage to have the option for folks to cop off of Fite TV. You got to make profit somehow which WWE somehow forgot the purpose of the big 4

One thing to take into consideration with the Network is that WWE were planning for the future that they'd get less and less money each reup with USA until they'd just put all of their content on Network only and have that built in userbase. There is no way they could have predicted getting a $5B deal from USA AND Fox AND the Saudi deal all in a short time frame.

I don't know anyone who bought the network for the current shyt. When they were advertising the debut of the network they made sure to put the emphasis on being able to watch the old stuff.

Yeah, But then they also threw in the PPVs and have gotten fans accustomed to it for the past 6 years. Stupid bytches should’ve never put them on their in the first place. Too late to go back now

Before the network, I would never order ppvs. The network got them 10 a month out of me from the very beginning. It also engaged me in the product more.
If they mess this up, I'm probably done with main roster. Just nXt and aew for me.

AEW doing 100,000+ buys with no television at that point was a sign that PPV is alive if people feels the event is worth it

The Network failed, safe to say.
I'd argue, moreso, that Vince failed the network.
Same thing at the end of the day, but I feel there's circumstances where it could have been marginally to wildly successful.
But yeah, I think it's done.

I still say that we should have gotten some type of Firefly Funhouse show on the WWE Network. Bray Wyatt is entertaining as hell. Y'all can't tell me Bray playing a demonic Mr. Rogers type character wouldn't be entertaining programming.

It never made business sense for them to stop PPVs period. People were STILL buying PPVs even when the network had the same shows for $10 a month. I appreciate them doing that but it was dumb AF to put the PPVs on the network. Can't go back now though.

From a business standpoint... the big 4 PPVs should have been more expensive..
But from a fan standpoint, we ate...
@jadillac reminded me tho. Those first two years were dope with all the daily programming live from WrestleMania weekend. WWE dropped the ball on live content.
I fukked with all that shyt. I used to like when they would show like 5-8 minute segments from years past on the live feed in between programming.

Yep - It never got through to Vince that he needed a great product year round now and not just during Mania season.
They never made a good faith effort to retain subscribers.
