Indian Americans are generally ok people in my experience. Its the one's straight from India that are a pain.

Indians are very empathetic towards the poor and homeless.
In Chicago, the Indians that work at Subway and Dunkin Donuts on the south and west sides usually allow poor black and homeless people to shelter in their stores. And will give them free food or coffee periodically.

Haven't seen that amount of empathy from white and black ran stores.

Are you sure these were Indians and not Pakistani muslims

Worked with some overseas and besides having some hygiene issues , they were cool and nice people . My plug for homemade alcohol was an Indian guy. Didn't make me pay the foreigner tax when I picked up bottles
