i wouldn't say exactly GREAT...

but it did very well in comparison to typical imprints like ILL WILL RECORDS and CTE

most rapper run labels don't do well...cause the "ceo" don't wanna make the sacrifices to see others besides himself shine

thats why i credit CASH MONEY regardless of thier flaws at the end of the day they are still consistent and still able to develop talent and generate revenue

i always said that rappers DO NOT make the best CEO's

Thats something I also realized a lot of times lookin at some of the (now defunct) labels some of these rappers founded.
Usually they also make the mistake of signing too many people/homies and as a result they can't really focus on one of them/push them accordingly and in the end most of those dudes end up without an album release/buzz

G-Unit had a very successful run.
But how is it a great label if none of those dudes were hot without 50 holding their hand?

Juelz & Jim got to a point were able to get hot without Cam.

Look at the Roc.
Beans didn't need Jay.
Kanye didn't need Jay.
They signed Cam, and he a was very successful addition. He didn't need Jay.

So nah, G-Unit was very successful, but a "great label"? Nah

Wale & Meek don't NEED Ross to make a hot record.

Thats why I don't understand why they give Rick Ross so much credit for pushing his artists. That's what he's suppose to do but he was obviously inspired by what 50 Cent did with G-Unit.

The Self Made series is basically G-Unit Radio

Irv and Puffy did it way before.

Banks, Yayo, and Buck should've had the will and drive to try to make it on their own and grind without 50, mores Banks and Yayo. They seemed to be happy getting their hand held more than anything. Each of them should have been consistently making good music to prepare for latter on when the shine started to move elsewhere. Seems like every one of them can't find a good production team to save their lives now.
