The home of a judge in South Carolina burned down over the weekend shortly after she had reportedly received death threats in the wake of her ruling against the Trump administration.

Circuit Court Judge Diane Goodstein, 69, was walking her dogs on Saturday morning when her home in Edisto Beach caught fire. Her husband, former Democratic state lawmaker Arnold

Goodstein, 81, and their son, Arnold Goodstein II, were still in the house with other guests when the blaze began, and had to escape through the upper stories into the marshes below where emergency responders rescued them via kayak. The two were hospitalized alongside a third unidentified person.

South Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice John Kittredge told FitsNews that it was an “apparent explosion ... that resulted in a fire that destroyed the home.”

“Judge Goodstein was walking on the beach when the fire started,” he wrote. “Her husband, Arnie, was in the house with children and perhaps grandchildren. The family had to escape by jumping from a window or balcony. I’m told there were injuries from the fall, such as broken legs.”
“Arnie’s injuries may have been the most serious, for he was airlifted to the hospital,” Kittredge added.

Local law enforcement has confirmed they are investigating the fire, but have not yet determined if it was accidental or the result of arson. However, multiple sources close to the judge told the outlet that she had recently received death threats after issuing a ruling preventing the state from releasing the personal data of more than 3.3 million voters to the federal government.

The Department of Justice had requested their names, addresses, birth dates, driver’s license numbers, and the last four digits of their Social Security numbers in an effort to find supposed undocumented immigrants who it claimed were allegedly voting in elections. Republican Gov. Henry McMaster subsequently filed an emergency petition to overturn Goodstein's verdict, which the South Carolina Supreme Court granted on Sept. 11.

Goodstein has served as a judge in the state since she was first elected in 1998. Arnold Goodstein previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1971 to 1973, and the state Senate from 1969 to 1970 and from 1975 to 1979.
South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division

Chief Mark Keel "said he will stay in touch and let us know if there is any evidence of arson,” Kittredge continued. “At this time, we do not know whether the fire was accidental or arson. Until that determination is made, Chief Keel has alerted local law enforcement to provide extra patrols and security.”

There should be way more responses in this thread than there are. This is full blown fascism/dictatorship. If you talk bad about dear leader, lose your car, your house, your family, your life even.

You have memes with Charlie Kirk and Donald Trump as angelic/messianic figures and the worst part of all of it is that it is only going to get worse.
Trump out here selling a fukking bible too.

This is why republicans in the house/senate doesn’t say shyt about him because they fear the same..

Guarantee it was a poor cac who lost everything because of trump but still rides for the party
There have been quite a few interviews with republicans, anonymous of course like a bytch, who have stated this is what drives most of them currently. Fear of violence not from the left but from their own voters and Trump supporters. They are afraid they will die.

They operate from fear because they don’t stand for anything. They are in office for money and power and sadly so are a lot of democrats. Trump for all he has done, one good thing he is doing is reminding people the true nature of politics through history. It’s a proxy for war and violence and enacting your will on society. The US had a few decades of relative peace and chill and as a result a lot of politicians in the US came into office during that time not because of political ideology but simply because of resume padding and building their legacy. It’s a position of the privilege and luxury. Take Kamala for example. She is accomplished and of course a highly educated woman like her will someday become a state prosecutor, then senator, then president, and of course follow the foot steps of most modern politicians which is retire at an older age and sell books and give talks. Very peaceful progression. Very safe. That was fine before 2016. Members of both party followed this trend. Now that time is dead.

Now we are returning to a time where political radicalism is needed to fight. None of these people came into office expecting to fight. So they are scared and beaten. They don’t believe in their convictions enough to actually sacrifice anything. They will go along to get along.

Was going add, the politicians today and even the general population, remind me of what happened to samurai in Japan.

Weird thing to relate but, folks who know about the history of medieval Japan, most of Japan was made up of various fiefdoms each ruled by a central leader (daimyo) and each daimyo had a legion of samurai that served them. All these different states and fiefdoms were constantly warring with each other and fighting for supremacy called the warring state period

Sengoku period - Wikipedia

Of course, samurai during this time spent their entire life in combat and fighting. After this period when one daimyo was able to unify Japan under one rule, the samurai suddenly lost a lot of purpose. A time of peace meant their lives lost meaning a lot. So, what happened is they basically started to get soft and weak. Less of the daily life was about battle or training for battle but more about cultural activities. They did more feminine shyt like calligraphy, tea ceremonies, and philosophy like studying and pontificating on the ideas of bushido. Peace made them soft and when it was time to get rid of the samurai when Japan started to industralize near the end of the 1800’s they were less of a threat than before.

Same thing happened to our politicians and citizens. Peace and stability has made them complacent and weak. So when a power comes along willing to use violence and any means necessary to attain power, the opposition is primed to be slaughtered because they have been groomed all their lives in being peaceful.
