Did I really see someone say that Scandal was not made to cater to black women? :pachaha:The creator of the show is a black woman.

I just noticed that too -- WTF is up with that??

:mjpls:
Kerry is the mistress of a powerful white man.
If the roles were reversed and the president was black & the concubine was blonde hair and blue eyed, 95% of the black women who religiously watch this would protest and refuse to support the male actor.

The Other Side of Town
A few black women I've been cool with since high school like the show.
At first i was looking at them like :rudy:

But then i realized the majority of them (except one who is with an Asian) have black boyfriends.
I don't believe all watchers of the show are bed wenches.. so if your girl watches it she can still be a keeper.

A black woman with 3 of the highest rated shows (one that's been running for what seems like forever) and being honored by Harvard next weekend. :umad:
I'm not denouncing her accomplishments.. but i'm not surprised she created Scandal :mjlol: I bet in the last episode Kerry Washingtons character going to be pregnant, with.... you guessed it... a mixed race baby :banderas:

it's a cool sounding comparison to make but really this doesn't make sense because what defines slavery is that they had no choice. sports athletes get paid, can negotiate their contract and can choose not to play.
:snoop:i do not think athletes are literally slaves. i do think stereotypes and beliefs from slavery is part of the reason blacks are so accepted and dominate in sports

op stated he had zero tolerance for women who supported scandal because of the whole bedwench thing which is linked to slavery. i simply wanted to know whether the applied the same filter to other aspects of his life, such as male friends.

controversial yet telling quote from sports commentator from the 80s
"The black is a better athlete to begin with because he's been bred to be that way — because of his high thighs and big thighs that goes up into his back, and they can jump higher and run faster because of their bigger thighs. This goes back all the way to the Civil War when during the slave trading, the owner — the slave owner would breed his big black to his big woman so that he could have a big black kid."

about slave owners and sports
As a cultural aspect of slavery, sports were an extremely important element of life for the American slave. The competition and athleticism provided through sports granted slaves healthy outlets for aggression and enjoyment with and away from their masters. Although slaves primarily participated in sports on their own time and own terms, occasionally the masters of the plantations would pit their strongest and most valiant slave against a slave from a neighboring plantation in boxing or wrestling matches.[51] These events were prominent among southern plantations and served as forms of entertainment for slave masters and their families as well as the slaves living in the area. Owners predominantly purchased male slaves for their strength and physical prowess.

blacks & sports stereotypes
Black people are stereotyped as being more athletic and better at sports compared to white people. Even though African Americans make up 13% of the population, 75% of NBA players and 65% of NFL players are black. In the 100m dash, all but one of the sprinters who have broken the 10 second barrier are black. African-American college athletes may be seen as getting into college solely on their athletic ability and not their intelligence.

The Black athletic superiority is a theory that says black people possess certain traits that are acquired through genetic and/or environmental factors that allow them to excel over other races in athletic competition. Whites are more likely to hold these views; however, some blacks and other racial affiliations do as well. A 1991 poll in the United States indicated that half of the respondents agreed with the belief that "blacks have more natural physical ability".

american leader on the pain of blacks
"Those numberless afflictions, which render it doubtful whether heaven has given life to us in mercy or in wrath, are less felt, and sooner forgotten with them."--Jefferson
many people, race does matter, even if they don’t know it. They feel more empathy when they see white skin pierced than black. This is known as the racial empathy gap.” Multiple studies have confirmed that people—all races, not just white people, and all education levels and professions, including medical personnel—”assume black people feel less pain than white people.”

american leader on the intelligence of blacks
Jefferson:
in memory they are equal to the whites; in reason much inferior, as I think one could scarcely be found capable of tracing and comprehending the investigations of Euclid; and that in imagination they are dull, tasteless, and anomalous.0

1995 study concerning perceived intelligence
whites were roughly 10 times more likely than blacks to be seen as superior in artistic ability or abstract thinking ability, and blacks were roughly 10 times more likely than whites to be seen as superior in athletic ability or rhythmic ability.

if i can find it, i was reading an old jet when it just started out and blacks basically said they accepted slave roles like mammy characters because whites accepted it and felt comfortable with them in those roles & it paid. this very thing still happens. they feel comfortable with blacks in sports rather than in senate for reasons linked to slavery & racism. those stereotypes were limiting then and now.

NO
Scandal is not for black women, it doesn't specifically cater to black women if it did it wouldn't be a running television show.

But you go ahead and pass up a possibly good woman because of one show she watches.
Scandal is not for black women? Okaaaaaay.........

But im not gonna pass her up, she has some good traits I admire in a woman.
