Scarface vs Carlitos Way

Two of my favorite films.
Carlito's Way is a much more "mature" film. The acting, the storyline, the characters...
Not to say Scarface is bad, but it's more of an all out coked up frenzy and for that and for the sake of this thread, Scarface gets my vote.

Hard choice, Scarface is great when Al is chewing it up.
Carlito is a slow build up and when it gets going its non-stop tension

Brian De Palma is truly one of the greatest directors of all time

him and Al pachino made 2 masterpiece films with Scarface and Carlitos Way

De Palma truly burned bright and quickly, career wise.
He made great timeless work and turned trash so quickly its amazing.

Scarface is the better movie but Carlitos Way is a personal favorite. I love the conflict on doing the right thing while still having a foot in the streets

Yeah it’s weird because dude was truly one of the best directors in the game back in the 70’s and 80s and the early 90’s and then he just fell off

His films in the 2000s were trash

I guess you only have so many stories.
You see the same with Coppola, after Apocalypse Now he never made a classic movie again.

Hell John carpenter the same, when he entered the 90s his movies turned to shyt

I guess I will give it to Spielberg, in the sense the fact that his movies are weak, imo, he hasn't totally made trash like his peers.

Coppola is another director who fell off hard post Apocalypse Now.

Scarface is one of the most overrated films; its mere existence is as a pop culture reference, rather than any redeeming quality it has as a film. Carlito's Way is superior in every way.
