One time I was heated bc a random older white lady asked me to watch her bags while she checked into a hotel. I don't know if she thought I worked there or something but I was heated. Like this bytch ain't at all scared of me.

But then I went running on the track at the park and this white lady that was going the opposite way than everybody else. When she got to me she went thru the parking lot around the consession stand everytime she passed me. I thought it was funny but deep down knew that was foul bc I was the only one she was doing that with and the only black person out there. Being the "scary black man" is cool on the surface but deep down that shyts foul breh

"I notice when I smile I show more of my teeth than ever before. White people often comment on my molars. I also discovered if I raise my eyebrows while smiling, my eyes really pop out, they seem to like that. I make a concerted effort to rush to the nearest door and hold it open. I've actually had people ask me if I am that businesses door man and I don't mind it. I've taken up tap dancing. It's fancy and has a lot of flair but isn't really ethnic or cultural. It attracts a lot of positive attention."

interesting how the differing situations seemed to test your perceptions of self identity

You're trying to make this something it's not. It's not about me at all.

This is more about how normalized racism is in everyday life. She did something completely racist and irrational and it made me feel "normal". The other lady did something that shouldn't even be a second thought and it felt off. The fact that racism is so normal in this country that people can be offended by not being profiled is sad. This isn't a self kind of thing bc the thread is about the exact same thing. Normalized racism

I understand your point about racism being so normalized. do you think this could be generalized to suggest that whether certain behaviors are right or wrong if they are pervasive enough they become internalized?

There's always a possibility. Usually someone would need more than one example or overwhelming proof to say if something is being internalized or not. Without proper proof it's just a hypothesis... or assumption

hmm, you've given me some good material to use in a future article. I hope I can figure out how to reference you.

you'll be a "scary black man" when they need you to be.
sorry I missed this reply earlier. Are you saying then that the concept of a "scary" black man is primarily a construct of the majority and has little do with who black people are?

the "scary black man" thing is propaganda and a tool they use to justify harming us.
Trayvon Martin was painted as a "scary black man". Tamir Rice was a "scary black man". Mike Brown was portrayed the "incredible hulk" against a dude that was like 6'2 230lbs.

"scary black man" is a made up excuse.

This is a cracker troll. This is a white man from Iowa. He is a cracker. He is the typical passive aggressive white cracker man that’s scared of black people. Since he sacred of black men in real life, he spends his time trolling on message boards. A pitiful existence I know. He likes to play dumb and antagonize. He likes to follow nikkas around cause he obsessed with black men but very scared of them at the same time. So he makes threads like these. Look at em y’all.
