Our standards as a county have fallen so far. GW was an intelligent man, but was considered a dummy as president. He didn’t deserve it so much but he was noticeably less eloquent than the President before and after him. Then trump comes and doesn’t know any past policy or civics in general and is clearly the dumbest president of my lifetime and half the country thinks he’s a genius.
W. Bush was the stupidest President in America's history. Then Trump took stupidity to a whole new level.

Trump hasn't really done anything on the same scale as Bush (yet).
Before Trump I’d give it to Reagan
I have been pondering this.
Bush's damage was global, domestically he mishandled Katrina and ignored the warning signs of the recession that came in 2008.
But outside of those things, the polarization, the division internally was never as bad as this.
I lived through the Bush years and never felt the need to arm myself. I do now.

George W Bush was not the smartest guy but he surrounded himself with evil but smart people. His big sin was getting America into the 'war on terror' and a starting a multi-trillion dollar war. If it weren't for that and a lesser extent 'No Child Left Behind'. He'd be looked at as a meh, President.
The difference with Donald Trump is that he is not only is is not that intelligent but he surrounds himself with sycophants and the Republican party has for the most part committed to following him no matter what he decides to do.
