dont get me wrong. I think russ wilson is a very good qb. I like his play and I see some parallels between him and brady when the latter first entered the league

but saying that without him the hags wouldnt make the offs is an insult to that defense and my football intelligence. the only way that happens if you put a bum like kyle boller whod audible out of every run play and throw it up for picks.

lol
keep believing that.

seattle defense allowed 10 pts or less in 7 games last year
seattle defense allowed 20 pts or less in 13 games last year

seattle defense allowed over 20 pts only in 7 out of 37 games played over last two years (including offs)

and you think a fukking quarterback would have the impact of making this team a non-playoff team ? :dahell:

You are missing my point, last year they won the division by 1 game, I didn't mean they would be 8-8 or 9-7 but they won quite a few squeakers, Russel Wilson isn't being ask to do much in that system and obviously theres beast mode, I'm not saying in general but as you have seen in our division if you are less than 12-4 you are probably not making the playoffs. Without Russel they lose in St. Louis and they definitely lose in Carolina, neither Flynn nor Jackson could have survived against a Carolina defense like last years, I'm not insulting your football intelligence, I'm saying as good as that defense is, without Russel Wilson they are not the same team, if you disagree fair enough, but can we stop with the hyperbole. In fact if they just lose one of those two games, the 49ers win the division and they go through the playoffs through the Wild Card. If your QB makes you a game or two better it's worth it in some cases.

wilson makes them a better team, sure. Im not arguing that at all. they make the offs with this defense, wilson or not. when defense allows that few points, any average offense will result in team winning games.
my point is that that without this defense (and sherman+earl thomas is like 70% of their defense) they dont win the bowl, and actually likely not even make the offs. nfc is all about defenses nowadays, thats why I keep saying 4 top teams being top 4 in defense. you need a great defense to win in nfc nowadays.
sherman and thomas mean a whole lot more to seattles makeup as a team than wilson does at qb. I dont understand how its even debatable.

their passing offense was a bottom 10 offense in yards and below average in efficiency. their defense was near historical. its not even a fair fight. you make the defense go from historical to below average, itd hurt hags way more than if you go from below average passing offense at best to a downright bad passing offense.

I think this is a result of playing in the smashmouth division which is the NFC West. That being said the Seahawks have the best QB in the division (Kaep is close) and all the defenses were top 10 defenses (2 were top 5), so I just see that as the difference maker. Though both sides played in unison to win the Superbowl, especially in the playoffs.
