What we perceive as them getting bolder is their frustration over not having a class of people they could look at instantly and know they're doing better than. I mean not knowing any black people/not knowing an better is one thing but things like this are cruel and calculated.

Yeah, the watermelon is blatant racial contempt by whoever organized it...A quick google search would have informed them just how insulting the linkage of watermelon and black folks is. Fried chicken is complicated. Its an insult, but at the same time its a staple in black households, and its often a centerpiece of soul food themed meals. Black folks dont even eat watermelon like that, and it has such strong ties to racial imagery (watermelon used to denote laziness and supposed simplemindedness of blacks). There was no need to even go there. There's a fried chicken joint on every corner, so that stereotype has been dulled over the decades.

Even with that, my mother and grandmother always baked their chicken. I dont understand one thing about this though. How can so many whites be so unintelligent when it comes to racial issues? What part of Africa did you grow up in? New Orleans, Africa. Didn't know that was a real place.

Explain what the hell the history/culture of American Black people, has to do with people who NEVER left the continent of Africa.

I've never heard about slaves eating Yam Porridge, or Fit-Fit? I guess that cornbread and chitterlings shyt never happened.

I judge US history as starting at the signing of the declaration of indepence. so any Africans who were in the country at that time represent the beginning of our history.

Now if you wanna go back to random periods then you eventually have to decide where to begin from.
When Man first evolved? When Kenya was first recognized as country? there is no actual beginning from that perspective.

Hence the reason why even though disagreed with him (which is understandable) you failed to mention an alternative.

I don't think there is "giving merit" though...I think we just need to acknowledge that Soul Food is ours, and rep that shyt, and protect it from vulturey.

It is the Southern Cac that is without a culture. Their culture was based on slavery, and when slavery ended, so did their culture. Since then, they have just been stealing from the descendants of slaves, who actually had to work (oftentimes in secret) to keep our traditions and heritage alive. Cacs exist as resentful ghost, nothing more and nothing less.

I think you're being coy, but I'm going to answer anyways.

These aren't cultural traditions. These aren't apart of our heritage, regardless of who ran the companies. These are examples of American consumerist culture, not ethnic traditions.

I don't know what my ancestors name, tribe, land or anything else was, hence my post about our culture being stolen from us.

The cornbread and chitterlings happened because we had no access to whatever we would have been eating on the continent of Africa, which is a consequence of us being stolen from the continent of Africa.

prior to landing in America, our ancestors existed and therefore had history, that history isn't suddenly erased because they were sold into slavery and forced to adopt a completely foreign culture, their history is our history seeing as how we're descendants of the AFRICANS who were stolen from Africa.

In regards to "when did our history start"....you can acknowledge that African Americans have a distinct identity and still be pan-Africanist. Hell, that idea is like a cornerstone of my own personal philosophy....

Black Americans are a distinct tribe within a race of many distinct tribes. Our Homeland is America....our future, whether good or bad, is going to be in North America. And it shouldn't be any other way, we've given more than any other group for this country, we deserve our place here. But our Motherland is Africa, and the wellbeing of the people their reflects greatly on us and vice-versa.

Just checked the stats and it's less than 900 Blacks that live in Concord which is crazy. I thought it would be way more than that just based off the fact it's in between Oakland and Antioch.
