IDK where you guys get your hip hop news/releases, but ive noticed pretty much every other hip hop fan knows a ton more about recent artists/projects than me. Ive heard about 10 hip hop releases (mixtapes and albums) from this year, same with last year, only major artists. All these new indie rap artists blowin up, like joey fatts, basically all them nikkas after asap and SGP (who sucks ass), i dont rly know much about them and the whole scene. I only happen across a few tracks from these guys, and its always either from illroots or forums like this. I keep hearing about projects and artists that ive rarely seen before or ive never heard of, and people praising the shyt out of them, making me feel left out.
So school me on the good shyt from last year and this year. Just leave out the major releases, like the dudes who sell 50k or higher first week, i know bout them but not much else. I have heard some of these new guys like chance, joey badass, kevin gates. I dont like any of them particularly much, i think if your gonna make boring music and solid lyrics (chance) i might as well listen to 90s rap since its both of those things but better. Joey is good but after his first tape ive lost interest. Kevin gates is ass. TBH ive lost interest in hearing about peoples life stories over and over, so i dont want artists who are pseudo conscious or just bytch all the time. At the same time i dont want any trap unless its actually good.
