School Me on Blu Ray Rips vs Blu Rays

I have always been downloading Blu ray rips since they are in the 1-2 gb range. Are the full blu rays that much better? Some are 12gb and even bigger. I want to watch but the download time is brutal

BRRip are rips from Blu-Rays.

Blu-Rays are much better in quality. Its like the difference between a DVD and a Blu-Ray.

1-2GB would be an HD rip of a TV show. most blu ray rips are at least 4GB in size. the size of the rip determines the sound and picture quality. I usually download 720p rips. the 1080p rips are significantly larger tho.

Im downloading superman 720 and its 6gb, is that about right for the 720 ?

That's not true.

There are some BRRrips that are not 720p and 1080p that are 1-2 GB. Some even 700MB.

Yes.

I downloaded the Man of Steel 1080p and it was 10GB.

it should be. I also downloaded man of steel last night of the torrents and it's a little over 6GB.

You're not getting a bluray rip that size without a major downgrade in sound or resolution (720p)

A standard 5.1 channel 1080p bluray rip of a 80 minute movie is gonna be at least 8 gigs.

Those 1-2 gig rips are compressed and the quality is low

The 8-14 gigs rips are compressed too but the quality is excellent, plus most of those rips have uncompressed DTS audio

You can also download the uncompressed full bluray rips...those are usually anywhere between 25-50 gigs but they are full bluray rips(the exact same as the retail blurays you buy at the store)

I usally download the mid tier rips(the 8-14 gig rips usually from publichd) except for visual movies like pacific rim,life of pi, etc. I'll grabbed the full bluray(or 3D) rip
