Loved Royalty, but Gambino isn't that much of a good rapper when you look at him objectively. Because the Internet is barely a rap album either. I will continue to check for his shyt because I like Gambino, but he's a guy you either "get" or don't.

Standout tracks: Black Faces, You See Me, Unnecessary (Q and Soul steal the show), Free At Last and Arrangement.

He peaked on Royalty but you might like random shyt on his catalog but most of it is filler tbh

He can spit breh:sas2:

I've definitely come around on him, I wouldn't consider myself a fan but he definitely can spit sometimes. It's usually like 2-4 songs from his tapes/projects that I fukk with. He does a lil too much singing and pop type songs for my liking

But he isn't trash like I thought he was initially. Sweatpants is dope, I like The Worst Guys and Bonfire too..

Part of the divisiveness of people being into Childish or not has to do with his changing & development in what he does. His earlier stuff is mostly him being a punchline rapper. EP into Camp was him moving into more conceptual songs/albums. Then Royalty was a throwback to his earlier style. And Because The Internet is a large concept record, with STN MTN/ Kauai is continuing on that sound (though STN MTN was a lil throwback again).

So some people dig the earlier stuff, some like the style of the earlier stuff but not the production under it, some like the sound of of the new stuff but not into what he's doing, some don't dig the singing, etc... Plus a lot hear a track or two and dismiss him b/c they're not feeling it but don't realize how versatile his catalogue is & two different tracks'll have them checking for more.

I've preferred the newer stuff as he's progressed over the punchlines. His & Ludwig's production have gotten much better & I think him singing is as good or better in some instances than him spitting. Look forward to anything he drops.

Because the Internet was the first project I listened to by him and I liked it.
