Great player.
Hall of fame player.

Sensitive douchebag who couldn't handle the fact that Alex was better than him.

Called for fans to stop booing his friend Jason Giambi when Giambi was struggling.

Claimed it wasn't his job to tell the fans to stop booing when reporters asked why he didn't come to Alex's defense a year or two later.

A defensive liability to say the least.

Bland personality. Never said anything of importance because he's a corporate shill.

He's Russell Wilson's wet dream.

Smartest thing he ever did was not get married and banged (white) models. :mjpls:

Yankee fan here but fukk Derek Jeter.
They came out with this Core Four bullshyt and put Jeter at the forefront with Rivera, Pettitte and Posada. But Bernie Williams was the guy who taught all those suckers how to be professional and showed them all the ropes.

You want a role model? Bernie Williams is your man.

END THREAD. This is all you need to know.

A+ post; I wish I could rep you, breh. :to:

Glad to know I wasn't the only one who saw through his fake facade. :mjcry:

Loved Bernie but Tino was more of my dude.

Bernie deserves way more respect and a tighter place in Yankee lore, but he was never that "leadership" type, either vocally or by example. He hardly was those guys' mentor in reality.

Jeter, for example, primarily got taken under the wing of Gerald Williams (which is why breh is basically on Jeter's pay roll to this day) and Tino when he was young.
Absolutely false. I've met Bernie and Mariano at several local bars in the Westchester area (Mariano lives here...Bernie, I don't know anymore but he's done several guitar shows here) and I've spoken to other ex-coaches and organizational people who have personally told me otherwise.
And Gerald Williams was gone by mid-august of 96. He and Jeter shared maybe 100 games. I couldn't speak to how much of a lasting friendship they have, but that's hardly relevant.

The notion of Bernie not being a leader just comes down to this stereotype about quiet players. You guys on the coli do it constantly with Tim Duncan. :sas2:
But I'll give you one thing. Bernie wasn't ALWAYS a mentor and leader. As a rookie, Mel Hall used to tease him over his glasses and bullied him constantly...once making Bernie cry.

But we all overcome...

Jeter had the personality of a cardboard box.

And even though he had the rings and the respect of NY, he was always jealous of alex.

Oh and BTW alex is, was, and always will be the far superior Yankee. Not even close. Jeter shouldve moved to 3rd when alex came and HE DAMN sure shouldnt have been playing the position at 38-40. That last gold glove he won was a joke.

Ftr i dont hate the yankees or jeter. Just think hes the most overrated player since dimaggio

:salute: Threw some rep your way for showing love to the gawd Bernabe

Bernie (and Tino) was my favorite Yankee growing up, dude put in work. I'll never shyt on Jeter, but it never sat well with me that he got all the glory when he wasn't the only person putting in work. Bernie was the Yankees best postseason hitter, yet he had to take a backseat to Jeter :francis:

Being a bland, non controversial, no opinion having dork because you want to protect your "brand" makes you a corporate shill.

Derek Jeter was a great player and World Champion.

He's also a soulless loser who never said or did anything that could resemble a personality.

Although I'm curious what is professional about being a catty bytch and alienating teammates from Alex Rodriguez for several years?

I guess you have a different definition of professionalism and leadership.

He's responsible for a lot of people in hollywood getting herpes. Fake ass goody two shoes who was responsible for most of the toxicity in the Yankees clubhouse when Arod came over in 04.

I say this as a die hard Yankee fan. :dame:

But he had a very high baseball IQ and was never caught up in the steroid allegations.

I remember when Skip implied Jeter might be on roids Jeter got sensitive. He wanted to fight Skip. :skip:

Derek Jeter didn't have a bland personality when I met him many years ago. He was actually very chill to talk to.
