Lyrical ability somehow makes lyrical content more acceptable.
It's funny to me how when Keef and the whole Chicago scene came around everyone accused them of promoting violence and drug use as if that's a new concept in hip-hop.
At least you understood the main point I was trying to make...Thank you for articulating it better than I did...

Haha he's not wrong. Double time sounds impressive because it fits in the pockets so perfectly and it's fast, so people think it's impressive.

But generally to fit that mold you gotta dumb down what you're saying. If you had an album, or even a whole song of droppin detailed knowledge gems in double time, the listener would be like :merchant::wtf:

Really what it comes down to is that if your lyrics are simple, the presentation (delivery, flow, etc) is what distinguishes it from the next song about the same shyt. On the flip side if the lyrics are complex, you have a choice to make: you either make them digestible (slow down the flow, stick to one topic, emphasize stand-out phrases with cadence, etc.) or you accept that most people are not going to focus on deciphering your lyrics and your message will get lost in translation for everybody but the diehard fans of the craft and your peers.

:childplease: at some of the responses here. Obviously he's not talking about every rapper that uses doubletime, Q himself uses it on a bunch of songs. Haven't heard his new album yet but I guarantee that at least one of the songs on there uses doubletime.

Plus why would he diss every rapper using doubletime when he has several collabs with Rocky who basically uses the bone thugs flow as a gimmick? Seems like he's talking more about the 'lyrical miracle' doubletime rappers like Tech N9ne and so on.

And yeah like someone else said, Bone Thugs get crazy lyrical with their flows.

"My Messiah's better be ready for Armageddon, shyt's expired
It's wild, bless the child, the one that became a man

Put in positions off in the Clair
All that I had to do was stare
Test me now, contender; never no surrender, no pretend
Pick up my pen, in my hand
One of my trusted friend-friends

Hey, open it! Let's see if we're real, we all suited
Beg my pardon to Martin
Baby, we ain't marchin', we shootin'

In daily recruitin', there's a thug born everyday in the ghetto
We start 'em off little, we give 'em a bible
And a pen and a pad to hit the label; kick it!"

The articulation is the art. Its a difference in ill kill u for the bag and "everyone would be angels for pujols bread". Its a difference between i cant wait to shoot a nikka and "The throwaway techs got tourettes".

It is the same content...Drugs and materialism...The only difference is that Jay Z has a bigger vocabulary than Chief Keef...But the content is damn near identical...

Where as, if you listen to Canibus vs Chief Keef, the difference in content is so APPARENT...

Compare Jay-Z to Chief Keef brehs, wow I done see it all :wow:

I swear you all thirsty for some drama :pachaha:

"they're not saying shyt" and you say it's Kendrick? Even if someone is a Kendrick hater this is something hard to argue.

My oldest bro used to hate double time raps when it first became popular when East 1999 first dropped.. used to call that sh-t "auction rap'.

I don't get how people are dissing Busta Rhymes for rapping about nothing on that Chris Brown song, when the entire song itself was pretty much about nothing.
