That's why 360 deals became so popular

Labels used to not care bout an artist's show money (or movie/endorsement/etc money) because they kept most the money from album sales and that was usually 8-9 figures (with popular artists)

But now that albums are lucky to crack half gold, labels want a piece of everything

If an artist gets a movie, endorsement deal, anything at all, the label gets a percentage

Between shows keeping artists eating and sales plummeting, along with the internet making it easy as hell to promote, karma is bout to catch up to these labels and make them completely obsolete

nobody is buying ur bullshyt...kendrick sold 120 K indepedently before signing to interscope and 90% of the interscope artists aren't even critically acclaimed, Eminem himself doesn't have a single critically acclaimed album



He had one of the most acclaimed indie & underground albums in 2011, and it was before signing to interscope.
Also, Q & TDE admitted that Interscope undershipped gkmc during the first weeks...they only started to promote him when the the album went gold (only 2 interscope rappers went gold from 2009 to 2014: eminem & kendrick)
