Dude is going to get 200K or near 200K without problem. Y'all truly be undermining loyal fanbases and cult followings. There are reasons why people like J. Cole could have number one albums in the country, sell over 220K and nearly 300K, respectively, yet not have some MONSTER hit single. Because of their fanbases.

Remember this, TDE has arguably the biggest CULT FOLLOWING in the rap game as we speak right now. GKMC is still selling on average 10-20K a WEEK. And people automatically assume that Schoolboy Q is going to do mere dismal under 100K numbers???? In spite of who he is connected with? He's already DOUBLING the pre-sales that Kendrick made before, according to Top Dawg himself! It's all about how big your fanbase is, and TDE loyal fanbase is BONKERS right now. There's no way in HELL he's going to do less than 150K.

J. cole had a hit singles for both albums breh. Work Out went double Platinum and Power Trip went platinum. Also Born sinner got a little boost because of the head 2 head with Kanye thing. Even moreso b/c kanye was on the bullshyt he was on and alot of "purist" fans sided with J. cole to sort of spite Kanye.

sadly i think Q bout to be ScHoolboy Flop after this one :sadcam:

fukk you nikka :to:

He's already sold over 30k preorders. Isaiah Rashad literally came out of nowhere and did 8500 on an EP with no radio play, blog suckage or nothing. That Kendrick/TDE following is real. There's no chance he flops. I think he definitely hits at least 85k

Please stop with Work Out, it wasn't a hit when his first album dropped. It moved up the chart after the album had already dropped.

Work Out when double platinum AFTER the album was released. There's a REASON why he did the song Let Nas Down. It was deemed originally as a critical failure. It was never a hit record prior to the Cole World LP. Also, Power Trip did sell, but it wasn't the reason why Born Sinner went nearly 300K, yes, pushing the album UP (which is ballsy, if you think about it) did help, but the ONLY reason why he pushed it up was BECAUSE he was THAT confident of his FANBASE.

There's tons of rappers out that got platinum or multiplatinum singles, but once their albums come out they hardly even break 100K IF they're lucky to even do that. Having a hot single doesn't mean shyt in boosting your album sales these day. Not in hip hop it don't. You HAVE to establish that loyal, unflinching fanbase in order to survive in this game. That has been a proven fact.

:ld: you're right about that one. I still don't think Q's fanbase is anywhere as big as what Cole's was when he first dropped. Cole had/has a pretty sizable female fanbase, something I doubt Q has

like i said... loyal fanbase. anyone saying UNDER 150k are talking nonsense.

you're mistaken as to what a loyal fanbase is.

Pusha T has a loyal fanbase, cats been waiting on his solo album for over a decade... Schoolboy has a majority fanbase that likes him, because they like Kendrick.
... and 90% of them weren't listening to him when Tyga was running with him heavy, wasn't listening to Setbacks and probably caught onto H&C late.

Schoolboy aint even close to being on Wiz or TI's level, but he's supposed to put up Wiz type numbers? :heh:

If Q was able to push 150k easily, his shyt would've dropped last year.

Around Cole's first album he had a similar following actually. Same with Kendrick, of course both Kendrick and Cole's fanbases grew after their first albums dropped and that impacted their sales going forward. As for Q he's in the same position they were in when they first dropped. No body thought Cole or Kendrick would do those 1st week sales numbers at the time. I think Q's first week is gonna surprise some people, where his sales go after that totally is based off of how the music translates.

Of course he's not going to have as large of a fanbase, but again, Schoolboy Q is part of TDE. The mere ripple effect of him being Kendrick's right hand partner in rhyme just makes it automatic. TDE is like the new Death Row right now. Their following is crazy. I'll be shocked if he does over 200K, even though TOP DAWG HIMSELF tweeted to the fans to get him to 240K, but I am confident he'll do close to 200K.

But just the mere fact that the HEAD of TDE is expecting those kind of numbers speaks for itself that Oxymoron IS without question going to make crazy numbers.

to put it in perspective...some of you nikkas really think hes gonna sell more than rozay does the following week...with less relevance, and less buzz

:snoop:

What type of buzz have you honestly seen for Rick Ross's album, which has been pushed back how many times? Ross doesn't have the same kind of fan base as TDE. Not even in the slightest, yeah he has more relevancy in the mainstream, but how many mainstream artist have came out with weak 1st week sales because they don't have that fanbase that will actually buy the album rather than the "hit" singles that are on the album. Ross is only a gold artist, outselling him 1st week isn't completely out of the picture. His last album barely went gold.

I NEVER thought Pusha T's or the Clipse overall ever had a HUGE fanbase to begin with. Yes, they had loyal fans, but it was always been small in numbers. We can discuss the politics behind it another time, most of it being the whole label drama they endure throughout their entire careers and those long ass breaks between LPs that are killer in keeping up with your fans.

Whereas, one of the HOTTEST MC's in the game is Kendrick Lamar. One of the biggest labels out right now is TDE. Their worldwide grind has been NONSTOP. Comparing that with Pusha is incomparable. His association with G.O.O.D. as well as the rest of those MC's has been abysmal due to the fact that Kanye been incapable in making it an actual family or clique. The reason why MMG been successful is due to them able to associate themselves as one big family and not just individual labelmates. You have Wale, Meek Mill, and Rick Ross all debuting more that 150K, and you assume that TDE, off the strength of Kendrick Lamar alone don't have THAT large enough of a fanbase that would give Schoolboy Q more than 150K?

And the only reason why Q didn't drop last year, by his OWN admission, was because of his OWN insecurity. He held on to the album until the last minute.

Breh, read what you're saying.... it doesn't make any sense.

All 5 of Ross albums are Gold...being ONLY a gold artist in this climate, is not really something to knock somebody for.

Just cause you're a TDE fan, doesn't mean you're a Schoolboy Q fan....and the majority of TDE fans are nothing more than Kendrick fans, who like Ab Soul and Q too

Schoolboy Q has yet to carve his own fanbase out of the TDE umbrella.... Just like the majority of the TDE fanbase doesn't fukk with Jay Rock at all.

Schoolboy Q has fans, he wouldn't be headlining a worldwide tour without one. Read that again, he's headlining his own tour, and selling out shows internationally and in the states. He has his own fanbase, to go along with TDE's fanbase.

Jay Rock dropped before the TDE fanbase hit it's peak. He was the start of it, him killing his features will build up hype to his next re-lease. I promise you that.
