I get it’s not really a first single but barely having 500k views on YouTube at this point really shows TDE fukked up. You can’t let artists rot, especially after a controversial or poorly received project. He’s done like two features since that album, has had limited social media presence. I unfortunately think people may have moved on. We’ll see what the single and album look like but man. Label dropped the ball on everyone except Kendrick and SZA.

I go back to Crash Talk from time to time to try to see if there’s something I’m missing and yeah it’s still mid at best
I agree Q will be fine but "Crash Talk" was the definition of mid. I dont think any song on that album would make his top 10.

Crash Talk wasn't a terrible album, it just wasn't good. Problem was much of the production didn't fit Q and his hooks weren't good enough to make those tracks work. Baby kinda washed him on the track he's got on there because he fit on that way better than Q did.
Not saying Q shouldn't do trap stuff. We've all heard him kill trap beats like Work. I just think he sounds better over aggressive trap shyt. Numb Numb Juice felt like it should have been perfect for him but ehh. And that wack hook. Again with the hooks...I think it's hurting him now, whereas it used to be a strength.

i feel like most artists usually have a project that it sounds like the label wants them to make w regular production featuring whoever’s hot at the time and crash talk felt a little like that
its mad odd because obviously q shouldnt be in that place for a variety of reasons, the album should have been more joints like tales and attention but it really felt like he took his sound in a direction that wasnt his lane for whatever reason
Q wanted a big mainstream album but that lane wasn't for him. He got mad at his fans for not supporting "Blank Face" at the same level as "Oxymoron", tried to follow the commercial sound and it didn't work.
I just hope this new album is authentic Q.
I like Q, but I still feel he hasn't found his sound. He doesn't have bad albums, but they aren't in my top 10. I don't know, him and soul don't strike me as rappers that would fit in the mainstream.
