I think Mack 10 is a fake blood, wasn't he a barber or some shyt like that?

Hes probably the wrong one to randomly choose lol.

Schoolboy kinda lame on this one though. By the time those guys he knew were rappers they were rich and were not active. Plus he claiming Crip after the peace treaty / major waves of violence.

Now that hes a rich rapper what does he do? He sits on a golf course every day or at his daughters soccer practice, he's rich and doesn't need to be running with Hoovers.

Also a lot of west coast rap groups weren’t allowed to really rep their sets that heavy on songs because labels wouldn’t allow it, so they had to do it much more subtle. If you listen to Dresta and BG Knocc debut album they never say “Crip” but they make reference to Nutty Blocc all through out the album

Same with OFTB, they didn’t say it but you knew they was from Bounty Hunters.

Even Quik was subtle, he was the first one to kinda rep a hood from the gate on his mixtape joint but once he started dropping real albums, he didn’t even really mention his affiliation all that much until the Eiht beef popped off and on Safe and Sound album and videos he would make references to hoods and wear certain colors with the P (Piru) hat.

Now labels see it as a way to get your image poppin so they put it out there way more. In the 90s label would’ve never let Cardi talk about being Brim like they do now.

I remember CJ Mac dissed Spice 1 on Powda Puff for being a fake gangsta. Not a fake gang member because he wasn't from LA and never claimed a gang.
Fake narrative perpetrated by internet nerds years after the fact. The song is about Dre.

Aside from the fact that Mac and Spice had numerous mutual industry connections Spice was already racking up gun cases and in and out of jail by the time Powda Puff dropped, so the narrative wouldn't even make sense.

Theres also numerous interviews with Mac where he talks about certain people black balling him behind the scenes because of Powda Puff and his reputation in the streets, which he says is a big part of why he had to do business outside of LA initially with people like J Prince instead of getting a deal at home. If im not mistaken his interview with Soren Baker he gets pretty in depth about that era.

There definitely was a "who are actually studio gangsters" campain around 94 though that was putting into question the authenticity of acts like Spice , Comptons Most Wanted, Geto Boys, SCC etc, The Source ran several articles and columns about the subject. Although by all accounts none of the aforementioned artists were fabricating a street persona.
Q said rappers back then would claim Crip or Blood but you didn't know where they was from. He said only Snoop, Eazy E and DJ Quik really repped a set.
He should really clarify who hes talking about, which I assume is really just a couple of NWA members, cause what are the parameters? Are we talking household names? Platinum selling artists? Cause theres a lot more than those 3 who were really from a set.

CJ Mac, Coolio, Domino were all Crips, they didn't really rep their gangs in songs

People don't even know Domino was on the Bangin on Wax album
Back when he went by Genuine Draft,
Domino was Snoops first ghostwriter.

Coolio was actually repping the CPT on wax like 3 years before NWA dropped.

There's a documentary with Spice 1 on it, his own mother was saying he was just a break dancer and was a good kid.
Too Short put him on when he already had charges for guns and grand theft auto and this is when Spice was like 17. Rhyme and Reason is the doc you're talking about tho.
