so people can believe this but the thought of God is absurd---

gtfoh

:comeon: difference is there is evidence for the simulation theory while there is no evidence for your man in the sky god

in a couple of decades we will have the computing power available to create these simulated worlds which will look indistinguishable from our reality to observers within it.....all this theory says is that maybe we've already done it and we are currently in one

God requires belief in something outside the current laws of physics while the simulation theory is perfectly in sync with everything we currently understand about our world.

The beings that created the simulation......were in a simulation themselves :youngsabo:

actually this is the most plausible scenario....as long as the world outside the simulation is governed by the same laws of physics as the world inside the simulation......then its just as likely the simulators are in a simulation themselves......this would lead to an infinite regress

this is why philosophers like Nick Bostrom of Oxford argue that we are almost certainly in a simulated universe.....once the technology is available there would be trillions of simulations and many of those simulations would have simulations within them......and so on.....as a result the chances are astronomically high that we would be one of the simulated universe rather than being the very special universe that was the original reality :damn:

If this thread was titled "Scientists find evidence there is a creator" i wonder how different the responses would be. Since thats what they are implying but scared to say

:comeon:

this is what I don't get....even if science proves there was a creator, it wouldn't validate YOUR God at all......in fact this creator could not be any of the thousands of gods worshiped by humans throughout history

what does believing in a God accomplish anyways? all it leads to is division, violence, and ignorance

its not like you just believe in any God....you believe in a certain God....whose name you know....who you claim has a specific plan for you and everyone else......that my friend will not be proven by the simulation theory

quantum mechanics is probably the best evidence that we're in a simulation.........the measurement problem basically says that when we are not looking, objects within the universe simply become mathematical probabilities in the form of wave functions and they only collapse to form particles when a conscious observer views it :damn:

that basically means that like a video game, the universe only renders reality when we look at it......once we turn away the computer saves its power because no one is looking at the object :damn:

If we were to stick with your analogy, then, technically, more power is being used when there is no observer. That's because objects of the quantum world exist in several statistical states a wave function collapse due to interaction.

this supports the simulation theory because if every particle in the universe actually existed at all times, then the only computer that could simulate that universe would be a computer that is the size of the universe itself......however since the universe doesn't behave like that, then you could have a computer the size of a planet that could simulate a universe as vast as ours

I don't think that's quite right.

not necessarily....according to the Copenhagen interpretation, which is not only the theory propagated by Neils Bohr and Heisenberg which were the fathers of quantum mechanics but it is also the most accepted interpretation of quantum mechanics by physicists today.......according to this view, before an observation is made, the question of where the particle is can't be asked.....why?......because the particle/wave does not exist......it is simply a MATHEMATICAL PROBABILITY......thus this fits in perfectly with the simulation theory because the wave function is simply the code by which the physical world gets rendered by the computer......before an observation is made all that exists is the software code of where the particle could be.....it never exists until an observation is made thus saving power

for those without a physics background it is important to understand that when physicists say a particle behaves like a wave, they don't mean it actually becomes a wave like you see in the water......they only mean that its a mathematical distribution of where the particle could be......the highest point in the wave marks the most likely location of the particle while the bottom of the wave marks the least likely location of the particle

there are other theories like the many worlds interpretation which hold that the particle exists at all points on the wave function and its the universe that splits into different pieces when an observation is made......this interpretation would be consistent with your point about a computer operating this type of world requiring more power than one that operates a world according to the Copenhagen interpretation

Is the Universe a Computer Simulation? - YouTube

Yet more evidence emerges that our universe is a grand simulation created by an intelligent designer

Yo check this out. This shyt is crazy. Scientists claim to have found evidence that we are living inside a computer simulation. Here is a quick summary of the study.

:damn:

Just think about it this way. Each year or so computing power doubles. This is Moore's law. Most scientists believe that in a few decades computing power will be so powerful that we can create simulations inside computers that will be INDISTINGUISHABLE from the real world. The simulation theory simply asserts that maybe we've already achieved this and we are in the computer simulation right now. :merchant:

Once a civilization reaches technological maturity, and starts creating simulated worlds, then there will be far more simulated universes than the actual real universe. Thus it makes more sense that we are far more likely to be part of the many simulated universes that are created rather than being the very special "real" universe where the first beings existed that created the simulations.

Just a little something to ponder tonight.

u don't need a Scientific study to realize LIFE IS ONE BIG A$$ VIDEO GAME...

all these fukking characters and stupid scenarios we have.....everything is animated and contrived.....

and u don't CONTROL SHYT......i feel like SUPER MARIO sometimes with all the bullshyt i deal with

it's good to know that GOD is having a good time playing people on XBOX
